If my numbers are correct, the NCAA is currently holding 986 Division 1 women’s basketball players in the transfer portal. Now that number is growing by the minute. We will hit 1,000 very soon. Coaches will leave, and more players will follow. Not all will be lucky enough to find a comfy new home. Some will have to transfer down, some laterally and some may even transfer up. The names we’re going to discuss here will absolutely be finding new homes and they will be heavily saught out by the best programs in the country.
When players enter the transfer portal some find great new fits. Look at Saniya Rivers at NC State, transferred from South Carolina, immediately wins ACC Sixth Player and is now in the Final Four. Kamilla Cardoso goes to South Carolina from Syracuse and is now leading the Gamecocks to a historic season. On the other hand, Hailey Van Lith transfers to LSU to play alongside Angel Reese and we can’t sit here and say that was a great fit.
We don’t know where this year’s top transfers will land but we can have some fun and make some predictions. Players don’t always make the right choice but here are some spots that I think would be really intriguing for the Georgia Amoore.

Georgia Amoore
PPG: 18.8 AST: 6.8 REB: 2.6 FG%: 41% 3FG%: 33% FT%: 85%
Her list of accolades are long and her game speaks for itself. The crafty guard is a WNBA prospect who will finish her career with over 2,000 points and just under 1,000 assists. She’s at the top of almost every career stat at Virginia Tech. With Kenny Brooks taking the Kentucky job, Amoore entered the transfer portal soon after. Now, Amoore will have her pick at whatever school she wants to attend. I think she can obviously change the look of different teams for next season.
UCONN HUSKIES
- UCONN needs a point guard after losing Muhl.
- She could join the backcourt with Buckers and Fudd which would make them the best backcourt in the country.
- The Huskies like to play at a fast pace which fits Amoore’s game.
- UCONN hasn’t been aggressors in the portal but have shown to be interested in older players.
- Geno is a more pass and move offensive coach. Does Amoore want to play that way and share the spotlight with 2 stars.
- If she is more interested in winning and not how big of a role she will have than this is a homerun.
Southern California
- The Trojans lose most of their starting lineup including two ball handlers
- She could join the #1 recruiting class and the #1 player in the country.
- Trojans style of play fits Amoore a bit better. Transition and Ball Screen offense
- USC is becoming a hot landing spot in today’s NIL generation.
- Adding Amoore, plus the top recruiting class could have USC back in contention next season.
Kentucky
- Amoore, who has a strong relationship with Coach Brooks could join him in the SEC. Arguably, the best league in the country.
- Kentucky would demand the highest role from her offensively.
- Not sure having a similar role will improve her WNBA stock.
- The Wildcats won’t be contenders in the SEC for a year or two after losing their best players in the portal.
- Would not be my favorite place for her to land.
Other Landing Spots
- Tennessee: The Lady Vols will have a new coach soon and it will be a big name. Could the new coach make a splash and add high ranked transfers to an already decently established team.
- Duke: Kara Lawson has shown to be a heavy hitter in the portal. Adding a top guard could domino a player or two into entering the portal. Lawson has made major strides in getting Duke back to the forefront but will Lawson be the coach trying to get Amoore to Tennessee?
